This is the perfect opportunity to find your future pet while enjoying a festive community atmosphere.

On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, the Houston Humane Society has a goal to neuter over 1,000 male cats for free at the Houston Humane Society Animal Wellness Clinic. Cat owners across the Houston and surrounding areas can schedule an appointment! A $10 deposit per cat is required to reserve your spot, and this deposit can either be refunded or applied towards your rabies vaccine. However, please note that the deposit is non-refundable if you miss the event. There is a limit of 5 cats per person. Domesticated and feral cats qualify, and for the health and safety of all cats, each feline must be in a plastic crate or carrier.

On Saturday, October 26, join us for a FREE musical evening – Melodies of Gratitude, Wild Tunes’ Second Annual Concert to benefit 15,000 homeless pets helped annually by Houston Humane Society, BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions, and Special Pals. Wild Tunes is a nonprofit organization founded by 11-year-old Yuvi Agarwal, dedicated to soothing shelter animals through music. Come enjoy performances by some of Houston’s finest musicians and dancers and help support our animals.

A coffee and tea bar will be set up in the Education Center while adoptable cats run the room. There is no fee to participate, but donations are welcome.

The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a non-profit organization and donations to help maintain trails and wildlife habitat are appreciated. Programs are available for schools, scouts and other groups. (Reservations are required for group programs.)
The grounds of the Arboretum are open daily from 7 am to dusk. The Nature Center building which houses the Nature Shop, the Discovery Room, classrooms, and bathrooms is open daily from 9 am to 4 pm. Outdoor bathrooms at the Nature Center building are open during park hours. The building and grounds are occasionally closed for holidays and special events. Memorial Park, a municipal park in Houston, TX, is one of the largest urban parks in the United States. Opened in 1924, the park covers approximately 1,466 acres inside the 610 Loop, across from the neighborhood of Memorial. Leashed dogs are welcome. The park offers several dog-friendly trails ranging in distance and difficulty, but the 3-mile Seymour Lieberman Trail may be best for Fido as it is pedestrian-only with a crushed granite surface and drinking fountains.
